OMGosh, did we miss National (Leather) Skirt Day? #leatherskirt

skirt day mulberry Leather skirt and jacketEven if we did, that doesn’t mean that we are missing out on some pretty fantastic styles fresh off the catwalk this year.

It appears the date varies quite a bit from the first day of Spring to the 10th of March, but in any case we are prepared!   We have been watching the designer fashion shows in NYC, Paris and Milan and enjoying the display of leather and fur that is showing up everywhere for the FW 2013 fashions.

Tradition has it that Skirt Day is to not only celebrate the warm temps, sunny days and the fresh air but also to tempt and tease those men!  But who said that Skirt Day was all about giving the guys a glimpse at what we ladies have been covering up for the last few snow days . . . with some of the designs out on this year, Skirt Day is just as much all about us and feeling sexy once more!

We have already seen several enchanting leather skirt designs that have our fingers itching for our credit card.  Have a look at our preferred designer leather skirts:

Thick leather skirt, short and sweet

The thick leather wouldn’t flow in a long skirt but it definitely looks sexy as a wrap around short skirt.

Full long leather skirt in bright colors

Both of these skirts have a stunning texture about them – the red with the contrasting color underside and the patent leather skirt in an orange – rust color.

Ralph Lauren AW 2013 leather skirt and messenger bag

Black on black is classic and always looks good in leather.

Don’t know what exactly caught my eye first, the swirls of the short cut black leather skirt or the cross body messenger bag in a black leather with a monogram. Either way, they make the grade for National (leather) Skirt Day.

Anthony Vaccarello FW13 leather skirt or chain mail … not sure but it is turning a few eyes

A little bit naughty and a lot bit nice, this black leather button up shirt is tucked into a black leather pencil skirt with a link lace on the edges.

This little skirt is definitely the thing that dreams are made of, maybe with a slick pair of high black boots.

A romantic breezy day in Paris

If I had one day and just one day in Paris . . . I would spend it eating chocolate eclairs and drinking coffee at a small bar, walking the streets snapping photos of silly things, splashing my hand in the  Siene, standing underneath the towering church of Notre Dame, searching for the tip of the Eiffel Tower and holding hands with my sweetheart.A Romantic breezy Day in Paris

Absolutely sexy in red leather, don’t you agree?

For more than one reason February is associated with red and hearts – Pierotucci is embracing the challenge to show you something red every day.  Just a little reminder to Go Red for Women and take care of your heart.

Its Sunday and the skies are gray and cloudy here in Florence, Italy – this little number is just what you need to add a bit of spice to your day.  There is no arguing with just how sexy a red Italian leather long jacket is … especially when you are wearing nothing underneath ;-)

Red leather trench coat from Pierotucci for womenWhat’s different? Definitely the color, it is bright and clear – a true Frebruary red.  Though seen here in red, this Italian leather trench is also available in an off white.

What’s there to like about this Italian leather jacket?  The cut.  This jacket is cut generously and completely lined in viscose so it is easy to slip on over a suit or other clothing . . . or if you want over nothing!  The belt around the middle is exactly perfect for highlighting

What could be different? Perhaps not so busy with the shoulder and cuff straps.

Pierotucci Embracing February Red

For more than one reason February is associated with red and hearts – Pierotucci is embracing the challenge to show you something red every day.  Just a little reminder to Go Red for Women and take care of your heart.

Featuring a roomy hand tote bag from FRANCESCO BIASIA in February red with patent black leather handles. Made from a soft and supple leather, this viscose lined ladies tote bag is just the trick for chasing away those winter Monaco blues!  Francesco Biasia is line of Italian leather handbags which has recently be taken over by the ever so colorful Braccialini designers.  The designs of F. Biasia have a tendency to offer classical styles for a mature shopper.  They can make an easy transition from the board room to the happy hour with their elegance and design.

February Red from Francesco Biasia Italian Leather HandbagsWhat’s different? The size of this Italian leather bag with the easy top zip closure is a nice contrast to the lightweight nature of the bag.  This means  you can load it up with tons of stuff and still carry it around easily.

What’s there to like about this Italian leather handbag?  It has a black base in a sturdy leather to protect it from scuffing.  The broad base makes assures a good balance when you set it down, making sure it won’t accidentally tip over.

What would be different? A bag this size would probably benefit from a shoulder strap.  However the drop on the handles is large enough to comfortably slip over the shoulder if necessary.

An Italian Christmas for Wine Drinkers, Italian Leather Wearers, and Gold Jewelry Lovers

We have exactly 25 days left of the hustle and bustle before Christmas day is resting at our doorsteps. So what’s the solution to gift giving this Christmas? It’s simple, give the gift of Italy. I’m not talking about buying tickets for the family to Italy, although I’m sure no one is objecting. What I mean is bring Italy to you. Every Christmas I go home with a suitcase packed full of gifts from Italy for my family. Just in my region alone, Tuscany, they specialize in olive oil and olives, cheese, wine and liqueur, leather, gold jewelry, and pottery just to name a few. With all these options you can gift just about anyone in your family or circle of friends. Like, your foodie mom who can pinpoint even the most particular of flavors, your wine lover aunt and uncle that are always searching for a new bottle of vino to try, your greenthumb best friend that needs a new pottery piece for the garden and almost anyone with a beautifully handmade italian leather handbag, jacket, or wallet. I myself, have just wrapped up an orange leather handbag for my sister, black lambskin gloves for my mom, and an amazing couple bottles of wine for my dad that I’m hoping he’ll be generous enough to share. So stop procrastinating already and get shopping!

25 Days to Christmas

Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas From Pierotucci.

Tip 1: Keep your leather handbag looking brand new

How to care for your Italian leather handbagThe most important thing to remember about your leather handbag or leather briefcase is that leather breathes – Marco Galli,  our Italian leather craftsman will  tell you è vivo or rather it’s alive.  This means that it’s appearance is influenced by the environment in which it is used and stored.  Any kind of leather, even those that are treated, will eventually absorb excess moisture and in doing so will change the appearance of your leather bag.  Especially creating a problem with unwanted molds, smells and discoloration.

When your handbag, bag, briefcase or even a leather accessory is not in use it is best to store them in a soft cloth bag.  Most top quality designer handbags such as Toscanella, Pierotucci and Fortunata come with a flannel-like bag with a drawstring closure.

If your handbag doesn’t have one of these bags, you can easily sew one together or as an alternative use an old pillow case.  It is important that the bag is a neutral and/or fixed color so that there is no color transfer during the storage time.  It is also imperative that it has a large enough opening  so that it is easy to slip the bag inside and so there is no need to bend or fold the bag in an un-natural way during the storage.

How to store your leather handbag

If a protective cloth bag is not provided with your purchase, or if you don’t have the opportunity to make one yourself you can use a plastic bag.  This option should always be considered temporary because a plastic bag does not allow for a constant free flow of air.  However if you tie it with a loose knot and poke several small holes in the bag it will provide protection.  The nature of a plastic bag is to contain the moisture, so as soon as a cloth bag is available for your leather handbag you should switch it over.

Tips on how to care for your leather bag

Though this is not the best storage option, it is possible to use a plastic bag with certain restrictions.

The handbag should be wiped down before putting it  into the storage bag thus removing any lose dirt or moisture.  Look at our Tip 2 for more detailed information on how to prepare the bag to be put into storage.   If you store your leather bag with dirt you risk the possibility of color transfer.  Some leathers are not as absorbent to color transfer, however vegetable tanned leathers, natural leathers, rawhide or suedes will easily absorb dirt and color and it can become permanent if not cleaned properly.  Before storing your leather bag, it should also be emptied completely – especially of makeup, perfume, pens and pencils – all of which can leak or break and thus destroying the beautiful appearance of your leather handbag, briefcase or leather accessory.

The first step for properly caring for your leather bag, handbag, briefcase or leather accessory such as a pochette, wallet or belt is storing it correctly when not in use.

A soft, flannel like bag is the ideal method of storage.  This allows for constant circulation of air keeping the bag dry.
