OMGosh, did we miss National (Leather) Skirt Day? #leatherskirt
Posted by Pierotucci in Fashion and Color on March 15, 2013
Even if we did, that doesn’t mean that we are missing out on some pretty fantastic styles fresh off the catwalk this year.
It appears the date varies quite a bit from the first day of Spring to the 10th of March, but in any case we are prepared! We have been watching the designer fashion shows in NYC, Paris and Milan and enjoying the display of leather and fur that is showing up everywhere for the FW 2013 fashions.
Tradition has it that Skirt Day is to not only celebrate the warm temps, sunny days and the fresh air but also to tempt and tease those men! But who said that Skirt Day was all about giving the guys a glimpse at what we ladies have been covering up for the last few snow days . . . with some of the designs out on this year, Skirt Day is just as much all about us and feeling sexy once more!
We have already seen several enchanting leather skirt designs that have our fingers itching for our credit card. Have a look at our preferred designer leather skirts:
The thick leather wouldn’t flow in a long skirt but it definitely looks sexy as a wrap around short skirt.
Both of these skirts have a stunning texture about them – the red with the contrasting color underside and the patent leather skirt in an orange – rust color.
Don’t know what exactly caught my eye first, the swirls of the short cut black leather skirt or the cross body messenger bag in a black leather with a monogram. Either way, they make the grade for National (leather) Skirt Day.
A little bit naughty and a lot bit nice, this black leather button up shirt is tucked into a black leather pencil skirt with a link lace on the edges.
This little skirt is definitely the thing that dreams are made of, maybe with a slick pair of high black boots.
Cuoio Leather from Phillip Lim AW 2013
Posted by Pierotucci in Fashion and Color on February 14, 2013
We are loving the look on the leather skirts in the Phillip Lim AW 2013 collection – have a look at the texture. This isn’t falling like a nappa leather but has that stiff rigid look to it like a cuoio leather, with the markings on the edge. The entire outfit is a mix of textures – cotton shirt, fur sweater with contrasting sleeves, the leather skirt and above the knee leather boots featuring the open toe style. Earthy and comfortable. What do you think of this look?
Black Leather, Silk and Cashmere Accents are the Next Best Thing
Posted by Pierotucci in Leather Accessories on November 15, 2012
We have been showing you that black is essential in an Italian wardrobe but it needs to be said that black can also be the accent color, making it just as much Italian as wearing all black with colored accents. Take a base color such as red and mix and match it with its natural complement – the elegant, sohpisticated color black. The fashion world adores this comibination! Look no further than the sexy shoes from Christian Louboutin that play with the red accent on the soles. Or would you say that it is a black accent to the red soles? Afterall, these sleek high heels are more famous for what’s underneath than for what’s above.
Another great example of how well red works with black accents are these ladies driving gloves with knuckle holes and a black snap pulse. It is without a dout the black leather florets that give them a bit sophistication
Soft and supple, these perforated lambskin leather driving gloves will compliment an all red outfit or an all black outfit perfectly as well as make driving a new adventure!
And I would like to see someone argue with this world wide icon and tell her that red and black don’t work together. Minnie Mouse has been working this combination since 1928 when she made her first appearance in the comic strip world. And we must admit, it’s been working for her – she got her guy and a couple of top class amusement parks to go along with him. She even convinced Mickey that he’d be more elegant and chic if he mixed black and red together . . . Minnie was truly into the Italian fashion world!
Take this coordinated red leather skirt and jacket made to order for one of our shoppers. Add a black cashmere sweater, a pair of black heels and a divine pair of black leather gloves to the outfit, maybe a black scarf and hey if you want a pair of Minnie Mouse ears! - and you will be turning heads in every direction.
What would I wear for the 1° day of Spring?
Posted by Pierotucci in New Designer Handbags on March 20, 2012
Well if only the temps were a little more friendly, you would find me following the tradition of Skirt Day and going bare legged with sandals and a flowing skirt around my knees (years ago it would have been a bit higher
but since I woke up to 8°C this morning, I will have to let my daydreaming extend to internet, Polyvore and Pinterest. And the man in my life, well . . . in doors with the heater on max and in front of a roaring fire I can show-off all the skirts he likes!

It’s fun time in the office!
Posted by Pierotucci in New Leather Jacket line on January 20, 2012
January is normally one of those let down months, y’know after all the holidays, food feasting, present giving, days off and free smiles and laughter its a tough act to follow – but we can get pretty excited about January here in the office. We are getting ready to show our new leather jackets for the 2012 collection. It’s actually kind of fun – kind of like a shopping spree, where you can try everything on, there are no limits to how much you spend and everyone acts like it is already yours, suggesting nips and tucks to make it fit better. I love it!
All our seamstresses and craftsman come to the drawing board with various designers and put together lots of rough drafts for us to look at – tempting us with new colors, types of leathers, daring designs and re-makes of some classics. So we can spend day after day, swirling, preening and dancing in front of the mirror trying to decide what our shoppers are going to go wild over!
Last year, we narrowed down our selection and choose about 15 new pieces but we experimented with leather clothes, like vests and pants in leather. The vests were a hit – especially with the men. And the short leather skirt with the front slit, that went over very well (I imagine with the men as well as the women! at least it worked that way at my house, he couldn’t keep his hands I mean eyes off of me) As far as the jackets were concerned – frills and peplum were in last year – but not for 2012. Our color selection was more towards trendy with lilacs and burgundies.
This year promises to be even more fun – we are cleaning out many style that we have had with us for at least 4 – 5 years and replacing them with updated versions in different types of leather and many new colors. We will be playing with extra soft leathers – almost like suede that have absorbed the coloring in various ways, sometimes giving the leather that washed vintage look. Below I have picket out three of my favorites for this year. The first color reminds me almost of a “marinaio” or sailors yellow slicker, but without being too loud. The style we have opted for this mens jacket highlights some decorative stitching on the front and simple lines in the waist. The leather is supple and the color has taken in a shade that shows more intense in certain lights.
Another favorite will be featured in one of our ladies jackets and it is what I would call a dusty brown. The soft brushed leather gives it that vintage look, as if it had been hidden in the closet just waiting to come back into style. It is extremely light which makes this ideal for spring and summer wearing.
I like strong colors, but I prefer them to have an earthy feel to them, and this green is right up my alley. Almost a lime green but not that “in your face” this leather is smooth and soft … like a babies bottom. The style we have picked for this jacket will be perfect for the spring and summer evenings, it is a little fitted but definitely lightweight and has a mandarin collar.
Our new jackets will be coming soon on line – so check the blog out in February when we give each designer their own space, highlighting details on each style.
Pierotucci has Fiorentina Fever
Posted by Pierotucci in Fiorentina, New collection, Out and about in Florence on September 9, 2011
E via – the season begins! Pierotucci* and Florence …. are looking forward to the first Serie A Fiorentina soccer game at home against Bologna this Sunday (3PM). And to kick off the season, we will do it in the team colors – Viola a/k/a purple. I don’t know if we would actually show up to the stadium dressed like this – it is still way too hot outside and there is the slight possibility that we would draw attention away from the game, but we could wear it to our first (hopefully) victory dinner!!
Featured above is a very feminine leather hipster in a light shade of purple, paired with a black leather mini skirt, a fun silk scarf from Warner Brothers, and some beautiful gemstone earrings and bracelet from Empowerment Mineral Designs.
* At least most of us a Pierotucci, the one notable exception is my e-commerce colleague who insists in cheering for another team, which for obvious reasons can not be mentioned in the same article as the Fiorentina without bring all kinds of bad luck down upon us
