Would you give this Caterina Lucchi a go?
Posted by Pierotucci in Caterina Lucchi on June 3, 2013
Right from the heart of Italy (OK, a little the the left) come some the the most invigorating styles for women who have the desire to be the protagonist in their own lives. Thus they have always offered style which can be considered avant garde and forward thinking, maybe even a little aggressive. That wouldn’t necessarily be the opportune word for this little design – but . . .

Caterina Lucchi leather accessories have been making waves in the Italian fashion world for several years, and the Italian leather handbags left in her wake are turning heads internationally and we can honestly say, we see why. Just have a look at this hand tote bag in a soft, neutral color – it is loaded with carrying options, pockets and . . . well obviously class!
Fitting all the criteria for a casual hand tote bag, the example has a handle drop of 10 cm which are a perfect compliment to the size of the bag. However it is obvious that the Caterina Lucchi styles keep in mind that the modern woman needs to be versatile and the designers have thrown in two different cross body options. One is a soft leather adjustable strap and the other is a chain link which has been varnished to give an “antique” look about it.
Though both options are a luxury to have, the thin chain link cross body strap doesn’t appear to be as practical to have as an adjustable leather shoulder strap.
What are your thoughts on a should strap? Would you use a chain link? Do you see it as practical – comfortable – usable?
Wasn’t expecting an Italian leather hoodie to be on the best dressed list

This jacket totally caught me off guard, not only is it a hoodie but its a very good looking one at that! The distinguishing factor is definitely the vintage look on the black nappa lambskin – adding personality and let’s face it, this leather is classy. The designer gave the jacket a “youthful” look with the contrasting knit cuffs and the hood interior but I happen to know it’s possible to change the cuffs out to a solid black. The tailor was extremely pleased with the design of the hood, which has a soft wire frame so that it can be molded to fit the personality of the wearer – and just to be sweet the tailor customized the pockets with the wire frame as well . . . that’s just . . . OK I have no words

This is definitely intended as an all purpose Italian leather jacket, because besides being good looking it is practical for the colder weather with the removable quilted insert. It’s an easy change out, just snap it in or out for extra warmth.
What do you think, do we have a winner with this new jacket or what?

Perhaps nothing is more delightful than dressing your toddler, niece, nephew, godson or goddaughter in adorable clothing! Especially when you have the satisfaction of knowing that the selection is quality handmade products that use only the safest and best raw material. The selection of available pint size Italian leather accessories for children are growing every season to extend not only to fashionable cloth, jackets and shoes but to include tote bags, backpacks and messenger bags. Designed to fit smaller hands yet keep secure their largest treasures.
Playing dress up was part of every little girls growing experience, imitating her Mommy with a big girl handbag and high heel shoes. Today’s little girls are no different than yesteryear, always looking for that special something that makes them feel all grown-up. Perhaps though today’s kids are more practical because they are looking for not only something that “looks just like Dad’s” but that will hold all of their gadgets, books and traveling toys. As they grow older these bags from their childhood will remain as memories of the fun they had playing around.
Today’s kids fashion has evolved from infantile designs to include colors, textures and styles that are not only fashionable and trendy but convenient and practical. Be it kids luggage with bright colors and a multitude of pockets to bags for girls with sophisticated designs and multiple carrying options – fashion for kids is definitely on the upswing. Pierotucci has taken some of its more famous designs and restructured them to be suitable for toddlers, children and young boys and girls.
Starting with the FORTUNATA TOTE BAG, a huge success for the adult market this leather handbag has 4 different carrying options making it extremely versatile. This same model is now available in: Fortunata Baby. Re dimensioned for toddlers between the age of 2 – 12 years old this limited edition and totally unique leather tote bag for kids will bring a smile to any child’s face. A complete replica of the larger version, these bags for kids have a good luck charm, a removable and adjustable shoulder strap and each one is numbered – making them a one of a kind bag.
The options don’t stop here. Toscanella has opened the doors to bags for kids in 100% vegetable tanned leather in the traditional colors of Tuscany. These include leather tote bags and lightweight backpacks for kids made in genuine Italian leather and a durable canvas. However you put it Kids fashion and Made in Italy has never looked so chic as that which is emerging now in Italy from top designers. Look for kids luggage, bags for kids and backpack for kids with a touch of tradition and made with quality.
Another summertime delicacy from the heart of Italy

It would certainly appear that tomatoes are the obvious the first signs of spring / summer in Italy. Though you can find these red globes all year round it is clear that the flavour is only available with the warm temps. Then all of a sudden a pomodoro is a work of art, a succulent, juicy absolutely delicious ingredient to be used everywhere. But no where is as enjoyable as the infamous tri color plate which practically yells ITALY where ever you see (or eat) it. After preparing a cool refreshing dish of Proscuitto e melone, only the caprese ranks up there with ease and taste bud satisfaction.
Last week, as I was doing my food shopping there was as a young, sassy gentleman shopper (obviously not well trained in how to stack food items precariously without loosing any.) I had the unfortunate front row position as he dropped a container of mozzarella (the fresh kind that rest in their own milk before eating.) Everyone within a two meter radius was spattered with the watery white liquid . . .and you would have thought that all of us would have oozed out a groan and looked at the gooey mess on our Italian leather shoes, Italian leather handbags and pants . . .
But alas, not the Italians.
All eyes were riveted to the 4 plump mozzarella balls that rolled to the floor. And believe me when I say, you don’t need to practice ESP to know what they were thinking . . . it was the look of desperation that glowed from their eyes. I am sure each and everyone of them was thinking to themselves, “che peccato, that there was no way to save those little white balls from being trashed.”
Then there was the collective glare at the poor soul who committed this crime. One little old lady looked at him and with a voice full of contempt - “Vergognati!” (you should be ashamed of yourself!)
Working from the inside out, the skeleton of a leather handbag

Marco, at Pierotucci Italian leather factory is working on one of the Toscanella leather handbags. As you can see he has assembled the lining first, starting with the characteristic 100% all cotton striped lining, padded with a ridge protection and reinforcement. You can see how the front flap has already been attached. The bags are sewn and then turned inside out so that the striped lining will be evident on the interior of the genuine Italian leather handbags.

Marco prepares the linings first, working from the inside out towards the genuine Italian leather shell.
Once the linings are prepared the will be inserted in the the prepared leather bag and then sewn into place, and the final product will be available . . .

that you have good taste.
The good taste to select the very best from generations of Italian leather craftsman and women. The intricate weave pattern in the TOSCANELLA COLLECTION Italian leather wallets for men and women is a classic example of the artisan work behind each and every leather accessory.

Step by Step, a work of art in progress
Posted by Pierotucci in FORTUNATA on March 20, 2013
Sometimes it looks all too easy, a couple of stitches here, a couple of snipes there and you have it: a work of art like none other. But the reality is that the creation of any work of art requires a skill, just like that of our the craftsmen and women who work at Pierotucci Italian Leather Factory. They have been trained by a master craftsman who has been working at Pierotucci for over 40 years. Passing down a skill, a trade, an art that was once passed down to him in a similar way. Below is a little collage of some of the steps in creating one of the newest additions to our the FORTUNATA Italian Leather Handbag Collection, the patchwork model. At work is Marco attaching the lining for the side pockets of the tote bag, then you have Renza cleaning out lose threads after the side zip was put into place, and in the end you can see Marco working on attaching the rolled handles. Each and everyone of these steps takes place right here at the Pierotucci Factory, which is open to the public for tours of our leather factory.
Each phase of production of an Italian leather handbag requires skill and attention.
