Every time you look at your bag, there it is: the biggest, loudest scuff mark and it just makes your cringe when you think of it marring your favorite bag. And of course every time you look at it – it just appears to get bigger and more noticeable.
It is actually an easy task to erase these marks on genuine leather and all that is required is a piece of soft cotton cloth and a bottle of a neutral (that means no perfume, colors or sparkles) hand cream or body lotion. Scuff marks are considered light scrapes, which means that the mark has not cut into the surface of the leather so that you can see the natural color underneath. Scuff marks come everyday wear and simply handling the bag, briefcase or wallet. It is natural to acquire these markings and in no way do they imply that the leather is substandard. With the proper attention, you can erase any trace of these markings and have your bag look brand new all the time. It is common practice, before each and every item is shipped out from the Pierotucci Italian Leather Handbag Workshop, to be examined for scuff marks and properly cleaned.
This is the 4 step procedure used by the Pierotucci quality control department:
2) ALWAYS check that your lotion won’t stain the leather by putting a dab of lotion on the cloth and touch up a spot on the inside of the bag – if the color is not properly fixed to the leather or it has a protective wax coating the lotion may inadvertently stain.
3) Apply a drop or two of the lotion on the cotton cloth lightly rub the scuff mark until it has blended in with the surrounding leather
4) Stand back and admire your handiwork. It is advisable to give the bag a little bit of a rest so that the lotion can be properly absorbed
Keep your genuine leather handbag looking its best all the time, check the surface regularly and store the handbag in its protective cloth bag when not in use.
