From Italy with Love: HAPPY 4th of July

fourth-of-July

Nothing says the United States of America better than Red, White & Blue

– except maybe for hot dogs on the grill, apple pie and brownies, baseball and a game of horseshoes  . . . .  and of course, 4th of July fireworks.

Some of my fondest memories include going to Uncle John’s – where the BBQ was always burning – and dashing into the pool, listening to the adults banter about the family volleyball game, the constant flow of grape soda, root beer and beer (…when I was older of course ;-))

– then the food was always the same:

Kielbasi on the grill with hot dogs, hamburgers and the occasional rib or piece of chicken,

Aunt Kay’s macaroni salad.  And.   If you were lucky you got a spoonful some shrimp in it.

my Mom’s all American potato salad

Grandmom’s German potato salad recipe was always present, even if Grandmom wasn’t

deviled eggs – but you had to be early to get those

and then watermelon.

Another image that always conjures up the States – at least for many European movie goers is the Iconic Kiss in the rain and on that though I wanted to share this blog with you, just a little bit of fun!
