About two weeks ago I was traveling through Avignone , in the south of France, and stopped to do a bit of shopping with my girlfriend. I watched as a lady tried on a leather jacket, hesitated and then turned around and hesitated once again. I found it hard to resist giving a few suggestion in regards to the style and sizing. My experience working in Milan (the capital of Fashion in Italy) has definitely given me a little bit of insight as to the do’s and do not’s of fashion. Couple that with my present job, I definitely say that I have a few innovative fashion ideas.
Buying a leather jacket is an investment and like any investment you want to shop around and go where you get that personal one on one attention. Talk to an expert, someone who can guide you through the process of sizing for that customized fit.
There is most definitely a leather jacket for everyone – and with that in mind I suggest:
First of all choose the right length; short is very eccentric, too long tends to add years to your look. For a young, stylish look the perfect length is more or less at the belt area. As per the fit, the primary focus is mainly the width at the level of the shoulders and the sleeves. Today usually we wear them very tight!
As for the ladies, a jacket with low neck is very easy to carry with a feminine style. My partner has a black leather jacket and she wears it with both with formal evening wear as well as the classic jeans.
And gentleman, a leather jacket with high neck style is more for motorcyclists – especially that bad boy look. A jacket with a classic neck and a front zip was always loved by well know stars, like that worn in the fifties by Marlon Brando and James Dean. This style is a good compromise for men and women.
Finally, what color to choose? This really depends on your wardrobe. But what about the fashion colors of winter 2014? continues the trend black & white, but the peak color is green.
In short, the leather jackets are not only a must for the new season – but always. Why? Because it gives a very strong and chic allure: it adapts to every type of outfit and is terribly glamorous.
